KEYIR NEWS:- The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has confirmed the death of an aid worker in Angot Woreda, North Wollo Zone, Amhara Regional State.
The deceased, Mahelet Settowu, was an employee of the Amhara Regional State Rehabilitation and Development Organization. According to OCHA, the incident occurred last week during an exchange of fire between government forces and armed groups operating in the area.
OCHA called for strengthened measures to ensure the protection of civilians and humanitarian personnel operating in conflict-affected areas. The agency emphasized the importance of maintaining the safety of aid workers, humanitarian operations, and communities receiving assistance.
The incident highlights the risks faced by humanitarian staff in volatile regions and the need for security guarantees to maintain access to essential services.
