KEYIR NEWS:- The National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE) has announced that it will take action against commercial banks that fail to respond promptly to customer withdrawal requests.
In its 11-month performance report presented to the House of People’s Representatives on Friday, the central bank acknowledged continued complaints from depositors but stated that the issue is not related to lending restrictions imposed by the NBE.
The Bank indicated that a warning has already been issued to non-compliant institutions and noted that the situation is showing signs of improvement.
Officials emphasized the importance of maintaining public confidence in the banking system and reaffirmed that timely access to deposits is a fundamental obligation of all financial institutions.
