KEYIR NEWS:- The Addis Ababa Peace and Security Bureau has announced the deployment of more than 900 transport law enforcement officers across the city in an effort to improve service delivery and address issues related to good governance in the transport sector.
The deployment aims to minimize disputes and conflicts in areas where transport services operate. According to the Bureau, organizing the security guards into associations has contributed to more coordinated oversight and improved interaction between service providers and the public.
Officials noted that price increases in parking services have been identified as a source of disputes. In response, discussions have been held with parking associations in collaboration with the Addis Ababa Traffic Management Authority to raise awareness and promote understanding among stakeholders.
The Bureau indicated that ongoing measures are being taken to maintain order and stability in the sector while improving the experience for both service providers and users.
Gebre Dagnew, advisor to the Bureau, stated that 87 associations comprising 996 members have been established at the city’s new terminal. These associations are expected to streamline operations and help reduce governance-related challenges observed in public transport services.
