KEYIR NEWS - As the world reawakens to the soft power of culture, Ethiopia is poised to showcase its soul to the international stage. This Sunday, a vibrant delegation of artists and cultural ambassadors will embark on the Kin Ethiopia tour, a cross-continental journey designed to introduce the richness of Ethiopian art, language, and values to the global community.
In a joint statement from the Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Government Communication Service, the tour was described as a carefully curated cultural diplomacy initiative, beginning in China and extending to several other nations.
With over 70 delegates and representatives from more than 50 ethnic and national artistic groups, the effort reflects the country’s kaleidoscopic heritage and its aspiration to reframe its global image.
“This is not simply a performance tour,” said State Minister of Culture and Sports, Nebiu Baye. “It is a mission to narrate Ethiopia’s enduring legacy of unity in diversity, through music, dance, and language.”
The tour’s first leg will open with immersive events in two Chinese cities, where audiences will witness traditional Ethiopian melodies, instruments, and storytelling traditions that predate modern borders. More than an artistic expedition, the initiative is strategically aligned with Ethiopia’s foreign policy, aiming to deepen bilateral relations, boost cultural tourism, and court international investment.
“Art has always connected people beyond political and linguistic boundaries,” remarked Tesfahun Gobezai, State Minister of Government Communication Service. “Kin Ethiopia is our country’s heartfelt handshake with the world.”
Preparations have been underway for four months, with ministries coordinating logistics, choreography, and diplomacy under the unifying banner: Kin Ethiopia, The Good News of Ethiopia’s Work.
As the troupe sets off, they carry not just instruments and costumes, but Ethiopia’s story, woven in harmony, heritage, and hope.
