City Administration Rewards Service Excellence Across Government Offices
KEYIR NEWS - The Addis Ababa City Administration has officially recognised public offices, sub-cities, and district institutions that demonstrated exceptional performance during the 2017 Ethiopian fiscal year.
The recognition, announced by Mayor Adanech Abebie at a formal ceremony held in the capital, aimed to encourage continued dedication to public service delivery and institutional reform.
The Mayor awarded five top-performing cabinet-level offices, with the Design and Construction Works Bureau ranked first, followed by the Peace and Security, Finance, Education, and Communication Bureaus.
These institutions were commended for their contributions in infrastructure development, financial governance, education access, and transparent communication.
Among the sub-city administrations, Bole took the lead for operational effectiveness, followed by Akaki Qaliti, Mi Kura, and Kolfe Qeranio, each acknowledged for outstanding achievements in service delivery and urban management.
The City Administration also recognised high-performing non-cabinet institutions. These included the Law Enforcement Authority, Water and Sewerage Authority, Roads Authority, Civil Registration and Residence Agency, and the Sanitation Management Agency, in addition to 33 district offices.
Their contributions ranged from upholding public security and sanitation standards to improving civic documentation and infrastructure services.
In her remarks, Mayor Adanech stated that the awards are not merely ceremonial but a call for continued commitment to the city’s development goals. “This recognition is not a distraction from our work,” she said. “It is an invitation to work harder in the year ahead, ensuring the benefits of development reach all residents.”
The initiative forms part of broader public service reforms under the city administration, aimed at strengthening institutional performance, accountability, and citizen trust.
City officials affirmed that the recognition programme would continue annually to foster a culture of performance-based service delivery across all levels of government.
