Ahmed Shide Meets World Bank Executive Director


KEYIR NEWS:- Finance Minister Ahmed Shide met with Zarau Kibwe (PhD), World Bank Executive Director for Africa Group 1, who began a three-day official visit to Ethiopia.

Kibwe represents Ethiopia and 21 African nations on the Bank’s Board. Minister Shide briefed him on Ethiopia’s macroeconomic reforms and strong project performance. He stressed the need to deepen ties with the World Bank.

The Minister thanked the Bank for its support, with a portfolio exceeding $16 billion. He highlighted the recent $1 billion under Development Policy Operation II. He urged continued assistance through IDA21 for reforms and key sectors. These include infrastructure, agriculture, and climate resilience.

Kibwe praised Ethiopia’s reform progress and the G20 Common Framework MoU. He pledged continued support for Ethiopia’s development goals. He will also meet with officials and stakeholders during his visit.

The meetings aim to strengthen Ethiopia–World Bank cooperation.
