KEYIR NEWS:- The Ethiopian Ministry of Finance has formally entered into public-private partnership (PPP) agreements worth 71.8 billion Birr with leading private sector entities to implement seven ambitious development projects spanning housing, tourism, and healthcare.

In a signing ceremony held today at the Ministry’s headquarters on King George VI Street, Finance Minister Ahmed Shide presided over the proceedings alongside representatives of the partnering firms.

The initiative encompasses four major housing schemes, two tourism ventures, and a state-of-the-art healthcare facility. Prominent signatories include MIDROC Investment Group, Ovid Real Estate, and the Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation.

Among the housing developments is the flagship Chaka Housing Development Project, a collaborative effort between Ice Home Development & Construction Plc and the Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation. Further residential initiatives fall under the Tiyit Bet Housing Development umbrella, implemented by Ovid Chaka Housing Development Plc and Ovid Kings Tower Housing Development Plc.

The tourism portfolio features two high-profile eco-tourism undertakings: Denbi Lake Lodge, spearheaded by Denbi Lake Lodge Plc, a MIDROC subsidiary, and the Awash Resort & Spa, developed by Awash Falls Resort Plc in association with Boston Partners.

In the healthcare domain, a consortium comprising Cerbalancet, ICL, and Pioneer Diagnostics will establish an Integrated Diagnostics Service Centre, poised to enhance diagnostic capabilities in the country.

The PPP framework underscores the government’s strategy to leverage private capital and expertise in accelerating Ethiopia’s infrastructure and social development ambitions.
