KEYIR NEWS - The African Union Commission (AUC) has deepened its engagement with global philanthropic actors following a high-level meeting between AUC Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf and Nicole Stirling, Vice President and Chief Relations Officer of the Stirling Foundation.
The discussion centred on enhancing cooperation in critical areas of humanitarian response, social development, education, and peacebuilding. Both sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing Africa’s development agenda, with a particular focus on the aspirations of Agenda 2063 and alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Chairperson Youssouf welcomed the Foundation’s longstanding dedication to advancing human dignity and resilience. He underscored that partnerships with civil society and philanthropic institutions are indispensable to complementing AU-led initiatives aimed at driving sustainable growth and stability across the continent.
Stirling, for her part, reiterated the Foundation’s readiness to support African-led priorities, particularly initiatives that empower vulnerable populations, foster inclusive development, and build resilience in communities affected by fragility and displacement.
She noted that the Stirling Foundation is committed to ensuring that its programmes deliver practical and lasting benefits for African citizens.
The two parties agreed to explore concrete areas of collaboration, with an emphasis on peacebuilding, post-conflict recovery, and social investments in education and livelihoods. Such cooperation, they highlighted, will be vital in tackling the root causes of instability while promoting long-term prosperity.
The meeting marks another step in the AU’s broader strategy of mobilising partnerships with non-state actors, reinforcing its efforts to implement transformative programmes under Agenda 2063, the continental blueprint for inclusive growth and sustainable development.
