Empowering Africa’s Youth for Global Climate Action

ADDIS ABABA - On International Youth Day 2025, Africa celebrates its young innovators whose grassroots initiatives are making a tangible impact on the global climate agenda.

Under the theme “Local Youth Actions for the SDGs and Beyond,” youth-led projects are restoring ecosystems, advancing clean energy, promoting climate-smart agriculture, and safeguarding water resources—translating global goals into local solutions.

These initiatives reflect the vision of the Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2), to be hosted by Ethiopia in partnership with the African Union Commission, which will convene leaders, youth, and innovators to accelerate African-led climate solutions.

Preceding the summit, the African Youth Climate Assembly will serve as a platform to amplify youth voices, share strategies, and foster collaboration across the continent.

By connecting local action to continental and global commitments, Africa’s youth are proving that climate resilience and innovation can start at the grassroots—and ripple worldwide.
