Eritrea, EU Discuss Preparations for Upcoming AU-EU Summit in Luanda


KEYIR NEWSThe Embassy of the State of Eritrea in Addis Ababa announced that constructive discussions were held yesterday with Ambassador Javier Niño Pérez, the European Union (EU) Ambassador to the African Union (AU), on the upcoming 7th AU-EU Summit scheduled to take place in Luanda, Angola, this November.

Eritrea is coordinating the preparatory work in its capacity as interim Chair of the AU Sub-Committee on Multilateral Cooperation. The meeting focused on aligning priorities and ensuring effective coordination ahead of the high-level gathering.

The AU-EU Summit, convened every three years, serves as a central platform for dialogue between the two continents.
 
The Luanda meeting is expected to address a wide range of issues, including peace and security, trade and investment, climate resilience, digital transformation, and the future of Africa-Europe partnerships in a rapidly shifting global order.

The Embassy underscored that Eritrea’s leadership role within the AU Sub-Committee reflects its commitment to strengthening Africa’s multilateral engagement and shaping continental positions in dialogue with international partners.

Both Eritrean and EU representatives reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that the forthcoming summit delivers concrete outcomes that advance shared priorities and reinforce the AU-EU partnership.
