In a message posted on his official Facebook page, the Prime Minister urged citizens to take pride in the country’s linguistic diversity and to preserve and enrich all Indian languages for future generations.
“Hindi is not just a medium of dialogue, but a living heritage of our identity and culture. On this occasion, let us all pledge to enrich all Indian languages, including Hindi, and proudly pass them to the coming generations,” Mr. Modi wrote.
He also noted the growing recognition of Hindi on the global stage, calling it “a matter of pride and inspiration for all of us.”
Hindi Day is observed annually on September 14 to commemorate the adoption of Hindi as one of India’s official languages in 1949. The day serves as a reminder of the importance of language in national identity, unity, and cultural expression.
