KEYIR NEWS - The Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC), Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, has strongly condemned the drone strike carried out on 19 September 2025 against civilians gathered for the dawn (Fajr) prayer at El Fasher Mosque in North Darfur, which claimed the lives of over 75 worshippers.
In a statement, the Chairperson described the attack as a heinous crime and a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and fundamental human values. He extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and the people of Sudan during this time of national mourning.
Reiterating his urgent call for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, Youssouf urged all parties to end the suffering of civilians, in line with the commitments of the Jeddah Agreement of 20 May 2023.
He further stressed that inclusive political dialogue remains the only path toward a just, peaceful, and lasting solution to the conflict.
