Addis Ababa — The Office of the Prime Minister has announced the appointment of two senior officials to major federal leadership posts, signaling renewed momentum in the country’s reform agenda.
Eyob Tekalign (PhD) has been appointed as Governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia. As the nation’s chief monetary authority, the Bank oversees monetary policy, regulates financial institutions, and plays a crucial role in ensuring macroeconomic stability.
Eyob is expected to lead efforts to modernise the financial system and strengthen resilience against domestic and global economic pressures.
In a parallel appointment, Enatalem Meles has been named Minister of the Communication Affairs Office. The Ministry plays a vital role in coordinating government communications, engaging the public, and ensuring transparency in the dissemination of national policies and initiatives.
Enatalem’s appointment is seen as central to advancing the government’s strategy of fostering trust, accessibility, and effective dialogue between state institutions and citizens.
The Prime Minister’s Office noted that the new leaders bring both professional expertise and a record of public service to their positions. Their appointments reflect the administration’s commitment to reinforcing key institutions tasked with driving the development priorities.
These changes come at a time when the government is under pressure to manage economic reforms, communicate effectively with the public, and strengthen institutional performance.
Analysts say the appointments are part of a broader effort to accelerate governance reforms while sustaining economic growth.
With these latest moves, the Prime Minister has placed emphasis on both economic stewardship and public engagement, underscoring the dual priorities of financial stability and transparent governance in the country’s development path.
